About us

The Black Writers Museum (BWM) is located at 5800 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19144. Housed in the historic Vernon House in the center of Vernon Park, in historic Germantown, the BWM showcases 4 exhibit rooms with the Ida B. Wells Library, Resource Center and Computer Lab and Conference room. Photographs, rare books and documents, authentic African carvings and masks, and original paintings adorn the rooms with an expansive library of classic African American titles and computer lab for research, all in a beautiful facility designated as a National Historic Landmark.

Just 10 minutes from I76 and 15 minutes from the PA Turnpike and I95, the BWM is easy to reach from all directions.
