Celebration of Black Poetry 2011

 

In the first Celebration of Black Poetry marathon and awards ceremony in 2011, legendary poets Amiri Baraka and Philadelphia’s Poet Laureate Sonia Sanchez were honored for their contribution to American and world literature. Sponsored by the Black Writers Museum (BWM),  two of the historic Black Arts Movement architects share a moment before receiving the “Living Legend of Poetry” award from BWM founder Supreme Dow.
